This is not a sit-and-watch seminar. Participants will spend the majority of the day actively packing horses, tying knots, balancing loads, building pack systems, and practicing the Diamond Hitch themselves. Through hands-on exercises, guided instruction, and friendly packing challenges, participants will leave with practical skills and confidence they can immediately apply on their own backcountry adventures.

Horsepowered Adventures was founded in 2011 by Levi and Kristen McAllister and was built from a lifelong passion for horses, adventure, and the great outdoors.

Levi was born and raised in the Banff and Lake Louise area, where he was immersed in Alberta’s tourism industry, mountain culture, and outfitting traditions from an early age. Kristen spent her childhood growing up in various National Parks across Canada, developing a deep appreciation for wilderness travel and outdoor recreation.

What began as a family-run business offering sleigh and wagon rides has grown and evolved over the years. Horsepowered Adventures later expanded into youth camps and riding lessons before transitioning fully into the outfitting side of the industry nine years ago.

Today, Horsepowered Adventures operates fully guided backcountry horseback adventures out of the Clearwater River area west of Caroline, Alberta. Their trips range from 4 to 10 days in length and are tailored to the interests, experience levels, and goals of each group. They specialize in small-group and private bookings, creating authentic wilderness experiences while sharing their extensive knowledge of horses, packing, camping, and backcountry travel.

Horse owners are welcome to bring their own horses on guided trips, and Horsepowered Adventures offers a wide range of services designed to support horse owners looking to safely and confidently explore Alberta’s backcountry.
