Riverwood Ranch was homesteaded in 1909 by Gilbert and Norah Greenwood, establishing a foundation of hard work, livestock, and horsemanship that continues today. In 1946, their son Edward Greenwood returned from World War II, where he served as a wireless air gunner, and alongside his wife Elaine Monks, carried the ranch forward—expanding it into a mixed agricultural operation.
Over the years, Riverwood evolved with each generation. By the mid-1970s, the ranch focused on raising Hereford, Galloway, and Charolais cattle, building a strong reputation in livestock and land management. In 1995, ownership passed to Bruce Greenwood, who further developed the cattle program and expanded into custom grazing.

Today, Riverwood Ranch operates as both a working cattle ranch and a growing equine facility. Bruce continues to oversee the cattle and grazing division, while Megan leads the equine program as the fourth generation carrying the ranch forward.
The equine side of the ranch has grown into a place people come to train, learn, and develop—offering professional horse training, lessons, clinics, boarding, and events within a strong, community-driven environment and indoor arena facility.

Megan brings a lifetime of ranch experience together with a professional background in education, creating a rare balance of practical horsemanship and refined instruction. Raised in the industry and seasoned through years of colt starting, barn management, cattle work, and competitive involvement, her foundation is built on real work—not theory.
A graduate of the University of Alberta with degrees in Human Ecology and Education, Megan holds a permanent Alberta teaching certificate and graduated with honours in agricultural leadership. Her background in professional education gives her a distinct advantage in developing riders with clarity, structure, and confidence.
As a certified Canadian Cowboy Challenge Judge, she upholds elevated standards while remaining grounded in working-ranch principles. Known for her precision in teaching feel, timing, and leadership, Megan develops willing, responsive partnerships built for lasting performance.

Bruce Greenwood brings a lifetime of agricultural experience and leadership to Riverwood Ranch. Raised on the ranch, he developed a deep understanding of cattle, land stewardship, and the realities of ranch life through generations of Greenwood stewardship.
At eighteen, Bruce pursued a journeyman apprenticeship with Greenland Equipment (John Deere), eventually earning his Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification. He spent nearly a decade working within the agricultural sales industry, gaining extensive knowledge of equipment, operations, and the broader farming sector.
Following the passing of his father in 1994, Bruce returned home in 1995 to preserve and continue the Greenwood legacy. In 2000, he officially stepped away from his sales career to fully commit to his lifelong passion — agriculture and cattle production.
Today, Bruce oversees the custom cattle division of Riverwood Ranch while also operating a contracting business that supports the family farm. He remains the backbone of major ranch projects and equine events — the steady hand, the problem-solver, and often the main muscle behind the scenes.
Bruce’s resilience, work ethic, and commitment to the land continue to shape Riverwood Ranch. His leadership reflects generations of perseverance and a deep respect for the agricultural way of life.

Originally from Gander, Heather brings a strong background in education, horsemanship, and leadership to Riverwood Ranch Ltd.. A trained teacher with dual degrees in French and Physical Education, she first came to Riverwood as a client and quickly became an invaluable part of the team. Heather combines professionalism, patience, and a natural ability to connect with both people and horses, helping riders feel confident, capable, and welcome.
Her equestrian background includes earning her Equine Canada Rider Levels 1, 2, and 3, along with experience leading camps, lesson programs, and barn operations. She was also named Reserve Champion in the Novice division of the Canadian Cowboy Challenge 2024 season. With an unmatched work ethic, contagious energy, and charisma that lights up every room, Heather helps make Riverwood a place where both horses and humans thrive.
